In the winter of 2009 True Companions, the pet loss company of Hoover - Boyer Funeral Homes, Inc. began operation as the only local, funeral home owned and operated, pet loss caregivers in central Pennsylvania.
Individual Cremation handled by licensed funeral directors provides unmatched quality and care.
At all times, True Companions will conduct the process of cremation in a dignified and respectful manner

We shall only cremate animals which can be contained entirely within our crematory

All individual cremations shall be carried out separately to ensure that there is no mixing of ashes

Appropriate steps shall be taken to ensure adequate identification of the pet on arrival at the crematory, through the cremation process until the final disposition of the ashes

All staff involved with crema-tion shall be certified in accor-dance with the Cremation Association of North America criteria

Not all crematories are the same. We are proud of the level of professionalism, which we bring to pet cremation. True Companions technicians are nationally certified by the Cremation Association of North America, a voluntary certification process. Our certified technicians follow a very detailed cremation procedure. Each pet entrusted to our care is tracked using the following process:
  1. An identification coin is fastened around one leg of the pet upon removal from place of death or, if removal is not made by True Companions personnel, upon arrival on premises.
  2. Each pet is assigned an identification number, which is imprinted on a steel identification disc and personalized ID stickers (labels).
  3. Each cremation is recorded on a Time Tracking Graph. After the cremation process is complete, this graph is retained on file at the crematory.
  4. The coin is fastened by twist tie to the sealed plastic bag containing the cremated remains and is placed in the urn selected by the family. Urns for pets, and other memorabilia can be found at Forever Pets.

  5. True Companions Crematory has an "Open Door Policy" and encourages tours of our facility, including our modern crematory. We believe owners should be allowed to see the crematory, if they choose.
